About Mulatto's Dilemma
Mulatto's Dilemma is an award-winning stage play about a mixed race woman who lived in the 1920s, travelling between the Jim Crow South, the Harlem Renaissance and France while struggling with racism from white bigots, snobbism from the black bourgeoisie and chauvinism from men. Born to a white French woman and African-American father, fictional character Annique Brick cannot find her place in the world and winds up going to the church to find comfort. While character driven, the play also features music from Bessie Smith, Edith Piaf and authentic costumes from the Roaring Twenties.
